DAD!

MY AMAZING DAD

My dad has sky blue eyes and a shiny bald head. He is medium height and in the summer he has tan colored skin. He is very hairy and likes wearing bare feet because he says “Feet need to absorb the earth”.

He acts funny and speaks goofily. He takes his time when he walks but when he is in a hurry you can tell that he is stressed because he walks fast, like when he’s late for work.

My dad is an incredible woodwork teacher at Mairehau high school. But he also loves to surf… The reason I love surfing is because of him 😁. I also got my blonde hair from him

(except as you can see his hair didn’t last long😁)

He is a loving dad and always helps me when I’m hurt. He always sees the best in people and he is very chilled. But I would definitely call him a chatterbox. Whenever he walks into a room it suddenly turns joyful and full of laughter.

He has a giant red surfboard with a hand with an eye on it. He is also the proud owner of a group called Team Pozitive (aka team pozzi) just saying I’m in it too😁

Bearyl The Tree

My Favourite Place:

Bearyl The Tree…

Bearyl the tree is as tall as a mountain, and her bark is like sandpaper. When I lie in her it is very peaceful and I can see lots of brick houses from up top. This tree is special because she was here since North New Brighton!

We love climbing her because she has so many twisted branches. Sometimes that’s a bad thing because she also has millions of pointy twigs that sometimes poke us in not very pleasant places… Bearyl is very old and mossy so when you climb her you have to be careful where you step. When I climb this tree I hear: children screaming and Fantails singing.

BEARYL IS THE BEST!

Hectors Dolphin

Hector's Dolphin

by Skye Young

Hi there, my name is Skye Young, and I LOVE dolphins! So that's why i wanted to teach you some facts about them. Enjoy!

First of all i wanted to clear that you will ONLY find them in New Zealand . So now that’s out of the way we can get on to the juicy facts . The Hector's dolphin is the smallest dolphin in the world, so it's pretty hard to see, thats why we need to know how to keep them safe. If you ever see one make sure to stop your boat and DO NOT speed off, also don't feed them and be careful with your fishing nets. I guess i’m just trying to say LEAVE THEM BE :). This species of dolphin is endangered so please try to follow these rules when you are fishing/boating. Hector's dolphins are one out of 4 special breeds, and you can find them in Akaroa. I hope you like my story and it inspires you to learn some more about native NZ species.

At the beach

AT THE BEACH

When I get to the beach I see tons of kids swimming and building EXTRAORDINARY sandcastle’s. I’m heading for the ocean but my feet stop walking at the thought of the sore and also hard seaweed, so I decide to collect shells with my ankles in the warm water. The sea was like a raging river except VERY SALTY. Today the wind was cold and breezy like an angry ghost’s breath. I find gazillions of smooth and bumpy shells. After hours spent playing, Surfing and collecting shells we all got hungry so mum got some Fish ’N’ Chips while we watched the sunset.
