My Top 5 Most Positive Things About Being In Lock down

Top 5 Most Positive Things About Being In Lock down! By Skye Young

1.Talking to family more often/ I think that sometimes we get so caught up in our busy lives that we forget to talk to the people we live with, and being in lock-down just brings us all together and so we have all this time to connect.
2.Getting to sleep in/ I like being able to spend more time asleep, although it will be a real shock when I have to go to school and get up early again!
3.Reading and art/ during this pandemic I have a lot more time to practice and improve on my art, and also a lot more time to read. I just hope I don’t run out of books! (This also goes for other hobbies too)
4.Training my dogs/ usually I don’t have enough time to train them, but since I have all this extra time on my hands… Who knows, they might be able to do the tango by the end of this!
5. Baking/ Often I find myself saying; “I’m going to bake something for lunch tomorrow.” But I either forget, or I get distracted by something else. Now though, I have so much time to spare, and baking is just one of the many possibilities I could choose to fulfill so that I don't get bored!

  1. I love your list Skye. I agree with you, one really nice thing is being able to spend more time with the people we live with. How is the dog training going? Maybe you could make a video of your dog doing 'tricks' and share it with everyone.

    1. Thanks Helen! I think the idea of making a video of my dog (Kimi) doing tricks would be really cool! I will probably put it on here next week if I can. :)

  2. Hey Skye, like your ideas here. I've been trying to get my dogs trained a bit better too, one is motivated by food and the other one by chasing sticks. I'm working on getting them to come back to me quickly when we walk on the beach, what are you working on?

  3. Thanks Mr. Redmond! I know exactly what you mean by one is motivated by food and the other by sticks. One time I was trying to teach my dog Kimi to speak on command but she wasn't doing it for food, so I tried using her ball and she just went mad! barking like crazy and racing around the backyard, I don't think she got that I actually wanted her to bark! Now I'm working on her not pulling on the lead because honestly, she is an absolute NIGHTMARE to walk with! I think after the lock down ends we are going to take her to a professional trainer. My other dog Roxy is-weirdly-a year younger and a lot more mischief but way easier to train! at the moment I'm working on her sitting at the road before she crosses and running beside me when I run with her. that is coming along quite well but she still chews everything and digs holes in our backyard so I think she still needs to work on her manners!

  5. I really agree with your first point, you've put it very precisely. We often do get caught up in our busy lives. It has been one of the real positives, the chance to really spend time with family. I'm glad you are able to see the positives and hope that families learn from this when we get back to a more regular life. And I'm really looking forward to seeing your dogs do the tango!

  6. Hi Skye, What a great idea making that list. Yes I totally agree we do get caught up in our own wee world and forget about spending time talking to our families. The one thing I’ve really noticed and loved seeing are families out walking. There’s usually something good that comes out of these things.Your a very wise young lady. I’m so with you Skye I’m going to find it hard getting out of bed early as well. It’s so nice not having to rush around isn’t it? Baking sounds like a great idea mmm your family Will love it yummy . Glad you’re getting lots of reading time. It’s really hard to put a good book down sometimes isn’t, you think just one more page ten pages later hahaha. Art work I’m jealous I’m terrible at art . It’s such a great talent kept at it I’m sure it’s very relaxing. Lucky dog they sooo love attention don’t they? Can’t wait to read your next blog.

  7. Hi Skye, so happy to see you are finding the positives in your world just now. There is certainly a lot to be grateful for each day. I agree that it has been nice to sleep in a little each day and yes, it will be hard to get up early every day. Lucky the sun has been shining and the days are nice to be outside. How about you share some of the art work you have been doing on your blog. Thanks Skye for your positivity.

  10. Hi Skye i really like your point of this blog post. Personally, I really enjoyed lockdown. I had a good time with family and the pets got way more attention! they were quite confused when i went back to school because chopper wasn't getting as many walks and the guinea pigs and my cat wern't getting as many cuddles! I wouldn't mind going back into lockdown again! I really like how you said your dogs might have learnt the tango! I mean it's a possibility! I also enjoyed art and baking/cooking. Eden
